Choose Your Compression Mode

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 100MB. If your PDF is larger, try splitting it into smaller documents first, then compress each part.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser; your documents never leave your device and are automatically removed from memory when the session ends.
What is the difference between Images Only and Rasterize?
Images Only recompresses the pictures inside the PDF and keeps all text selectable and searchable. Rasterize draws every page as one image, which can shrink files dramatically but turns text into a picture.
Which quality preset should I choose?
Balanced is a good default for most documents. Use Aggressive for email attachments, and High Quality when you plan to print or zoom into fine details.
Will compression hurt quality or print fidelity?
Images are recompressed, so very small or already compressed pictures can lose fine detail. For printing, keep the Image Quality slider high and reduce Image Scale less.
Will my text still be searchable?
In Images Only mode, yes: text stays as real text. In Rasterize mode, pages become images, so search and text selection no longer work.
Which PDFs compress best?
Scan-heavy and photo-rich documents respond best. Text-only PDFs are already small and may shrink only a little, since there are few images to optimize.
What do the Advanced Settings do?
Image Quality controls how much each image is compressed; lower values produce smaller files. Image Scale resizes pictures before saving; lowering it shrinks the file but also reduces pixel dimensions.
Does compression keep pages and layout intact?
Yes. Page count, order, and layout are preserved. Only image data is optimized, so your document still looks the same overall.
Can I compress several files at once?
